2014 WREATH CHALLENGE

I am thrilled to share with you this year’s submissions for the 2014 MarthaLynnKale.com WREATH CHALLENGE.  Just like last year, I am amazed how different they all turned out and I absolutely love reading everyone’s inspiration.  We received submissions from bloggers, florists, a real estate agent, a publicist, a stylist, weekend DIYers and one all the way from sweet home Alabama.  Keep scrolling to hear more about this years participants and to see what the prizes are at the end.

The stakes are high this year with prizes from Bolt Fabrics, Stella Says Go, Retreat Nail Bar and Mirror Mirror Salon.  To cast your vote for the GRAND PRIZE WINNER simply leave a comment below with the name of your favorite crafter (only one vote per email) and then a JUDGES pick will be chosen by our DIY guru Katie Taylor!

Thank you to everyone who participated…best of luck!  Voting ends December 21st, may the odds be ever in your favor!

THE CHIC BURROW

“I love all things natural to decorate for the holiday season– bits of aspen trees, pinecones, and holly. I thought book pages seemed to fit the theme (and look like something Pottery Barn might have in stores).”  Check out their full DIY on their blog The Chic Burrow!

SWEET MAGNOLIA FLORAL STUDIO

“This foraged peace wreath is made completely from materials found in our studio’s neighborhood! We wanted to create something that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also easily achievable. The holidays are about appreciating the blessings we have in life, and this simple wreath is a reminder of just that. Happy holidays!”  For more info on Sweet Magnolia Floral Studio visit our website here!

MEGAN COFFEY {SPRINGBOX}

“Coincidentally, I started saving wine corks seven years ago, the same year I met my husband. Looks like fate knew what was coming for us. We shared some memorable times over good wine… Our first “I love you’s” on Valentine’s Day in 2008; my last visit with my Grandma touring Oregon wineries; and many more. Thank you Martha Lynn for giving me the nudge I needed to bring this crafty cork project to life. It will hang in our home for years to come.”   For the DIY on how to recreate this wreath check out her Pinterest board here!

JESS MARGESON {FROU FROU}

“Frou Frou is primarily a floral design company – therefore our wreath is live. It is comprised of hydrangeas, seeded eucalyptus, baby’s breath, spray roses and other mixed greenery.  The wreath was formed on a soaked oasis form and finished with live sheet moss.  This graced the back door of Springhouse restaurant at beautiful Lake Martin. This overlooked the horse stables and a valley below.  We loved the crisp whites and greens against the surrounding landscape.  Special thanks to T2 photography for capturing it for us!”  For more info on Frou Frou, hop on over to their site here!

KRISTEN WILLIAMS {KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY}

“My inspiration initially came from my love of whimsical winter whites, gold and silver-toned Christmas décor. Paired with my universal love of the hottest movie of the year Frozen, I decided to make a winter wonderland snowflake. I set out to create a wreath that would pair timelessly with my Christmas décor and yet make my home feel sophisticated, whimsical and fun!”  Follow this real estate dynamo on Instagram here!

NATLIE PARAMORE {FOOD BLOGGER}

“I write a food blog and work with restaurants, so naturally my wreath had to be something edible! My inspiration for this idea came while I was walking my dog. There is tons of rosemary that grows wild in my neighborhood. Plus, it is one of my favorite herbs to cook with. Before I knew it I was foraging rosemary and few berries (not edible!) from a shrub in my yard! I love using whatever I have on hand in the kitchen, so this fit nicely with my usual style which is making the best of whatever happens to be around you.”  For the DIY on Natalie’s wreath check out her blog here!

CARLY USON {CARLY CO. PUBLIC RELATIONS}

“My inspiration was a leopard fabric that I’m in love with and have used to reupholster a few pieces in our home. Leopard is tricky. It can go bad quickly but when done right is classic and glamorous. I’m of the belief that leopard is a “neutral” so I wanted to find a fun way to pair it with color, pattern and texture. I added in some gold studded detailing (on the bow and wreath hanger) to keep the glam vibe going. I love how it turned out and hope you do too!”  For more about Carly’s services check out her site here!

MELISSA DUNCAN {WREATH CRAFTER}

“Living in Pflugerville I am lucky enough to currently reside in a neighborhood with mature trees. As I witness this area continue to boom, I have been noticing more Magnolia trees being planted. When I think of an elegant tree the Magnolia fits the bill. The vibrant coloring of the hearty leaves juxtaposed with the perfectly balanced cream white of the flowers and the yellow peppery pods is just mesmerizing.  A wreath made of this is timeless, just like all of us women from the South…Texas in particular.  I craft as a passion. Wreath making is my outlet of choice.”  For info on her wreaths you can email her at melissamduncan@yahoo.com.

MLKwreathchallenge_MelissaDuncan

CRISTINA FACUNDO {STYLIST}

“My inspiration was the fringe fashion trend. I see it everywhere I look in clothes and accessories and thought it would be fun to include it as home decor. I originally wanted to use leather instead of yarn but it was difficult finding strips that would work.  I love the way the yarn turned out and the texture is so fun.”  For more info on Cristina, visit her site here!

MLKwreathchallenge_CristinaFacundo

HEATHER BAUMLI {WEEKEND DIY WARRIOR}

“I made this wreath with sweaters I bought from a thrift store.  My blog is all about appreciating what I have to work with to create something new and transforming items to breathe new life into them.  This year, sweaters seem to be popping into design everywhere and since I am diligent about giving away the things I don’t wear I didn’t have any sweaters of my own to create with.  Goodwill was overflowing with sweaters and I bought two for only $12.  I love the clean lines of this wreath against my black iron door.”  For more info on her blog and this wreath check out her site here!

    Ahhhh, I have to give a resounding HIGH 5 for Megan Coffey’s MIGHTY FINE wine wreath. In the similar words of a famous canned chili advertisement…..How long has it been since you’ve had a fine bottle of wine at Megan Coffey’s house, Well that’s been too long !!!! Wine and the holiday’s are the perfect match!!
